Dell 2007WFPSubmitted by Lo Yuk Fai on Sun, 2006-04-16 02:21
I've taken some photos of the Dell 2007WFP, which you may find at the bottom of this page. Some quick notes about the monitor:
I also got the AS501 speaker which attached to the bottom of the monitor. It has much better sound than my notebook's speaker, for medium to high pitch that's, since bass is almost non-existent (yes, I know this already before I decided to buy it). The speaker can be configured to turn on/off automatically with the monitor as well. * Update on 2006-04-27 * There is a lot of buzz about colour banding issues of this model, so I took a few photos of a test screen generated by this utility (link snatched from this thread over Widescreen Gaming Forum) for anyone who're interested. For your information, it's running on an analog connection and the little box is the Miranda floater. * Update on 2006-07-08 * Dell has come forth regarding the banding issue - It's caused by the unnecessary enabling of 2 features of the Faroudja chip in the Desktop mode (FYI, there're 3 pre-set modes - Desktop, Multimedia and Gaming). According to Dell, the problem can be fixed by upgrading the firmware, which unfortunately isn't doable by end-users themselves. Therefore Dell is offering free replacement including shipping for those who would like to get it fixed. Details are available on the Dell Monitors forum. In case you would like to know, I haven't received the replacement yet. * Update on 2008-03-03 * Somehow I've forgotten to update this page. Long story short, Dell sent me a replacement unit in late August '06, but it was a refurbished unit. At the end, they agreed to take back the monitor and make refund.
